Aviation Archive Flying Boats display bases, Military and  Commercial.

The two dioramas were built to display 'Short Sunderland' Flying Boats from the Corgi Aviation Archive range of Die Cast model aircraft.

The first picture shows the Military version, I added a slipway so that the aircraft could be pulled up out of the water to undergo maintenance. The vehicle and bowser are white metal kits to 1/144th scale, the figures are 'N' gauge railway accessories. Both the aircraft used are two variants from the Corgi Aviation Archive 'Short Sunderland' range of flying boats, and are in 1/144th scale.  The Commercial version display base has a dock with porter/passenger figures & other dock side details. The depressions in the 'water' on the middle picture, are where the Flying boat sits. The figures and crates/barrels etc are all 'N' gauge railway accessories. Both the aircraft used are two variants from the Corgi Aviation Archive 'Short Sunderland' range of flying boats, and are in 1/144th scale.

British Korean War 25 PDR Field Gun Emplacement.

This diorama represents a British Army Artillery emplacement in late 1951 early 1952 in the Korean War.  The 25 PDR Field Gun & limber is a white metal kit in 1/32nd scale from Mountford Metal Miniatures.  The crew are made from 1/32nd scale Airfix Multipose British Infantry, which have had slight alterations made to the limbs.  The seated gunner figure was created by carving up and modifying the legs from two different figures.  The emplacement uses sandbags from Italeri in the slightly smaller 1/35th scale.

RAF Pilot Figure.

P51D Mustang.

Luftwaffe Pilot.

The RAF pilot figure shown is a resin model in 1/16th scale.

The P51D represented here 'Glamorous Glen 3' was flown by Charles 'Chuck' Yeager in WW2.  The kit is in 1/48th scale and is made from die cast metal.  It is part of a range from an Italian company 'Collector Armour'.  Some of their extensive range of aircraft models were produced in kit form under the title of 'Mackit' which stands for Metal Aircraft Kit.  The decal sheet for this specific aircraft was obtained from a specialist supplier.

The Luftwaffe pilot figure shown is an injection plastic kit by Tamiya in 1/16th scale.

Please note that non of the models, figures or dioramas featured in this gallery are for sale or can be ordered.
